The programme began in Australia in the Roman Catholic Church, and has recently been introduced here. Kaye Riddell, a long experienced primary teacher from our Anglican, St John the Baptist, Northcote parish began coordinating the work in the Hauraki Archdeaconry. (ie - the wider Auckland North Shore including Rodney.) Now Dale Beck is the co-ordinator.
- 'Seasons' deals with all kinds of grief and loss - bereavement, divorce and separation, immigration, pets, homes & possessions, shifting house.....
- 'Seasons' is a professionally designed, well planned and refined programme to help children deal with loss.
- Sessions with needy children can run in school during class time as organised by the school, or after school in parish locations.
- Each programme runs for 10 weeks, beginning with Autumn and moving through Winter, Spring, to Summer.
- Children are empowered to articulate their feelings at each stage until they have a healthy insight into their loss and are able to move on.
- 'Seasons' is free to all regardless of denomination or religious belief, and is funded by the church.
- 'Seasons' sessions are run by specially selected and trained people.
